SETI@Home Homepage

Download the BOINC Client

The BOINC platform homepage

Download clients for alternate OS's and architectures
or
Download the source and compile your own

The nForcersHQ Team stats page

nForcersHQ team stats on SetiSynergy

The unofficial BOINC Wiki page

Note that there's no direct link for the SETI client itself. When you run the BOINC platform client, and attach to the SETI project, BOINC will download and take care of the needed SETI files itself.

As of June 1st the setiathome.berkeley.edu address now points to the newer BOINC based homepage. The old SETIClassic pages and stats can now be found at SETI Classic

In case anyone was wondering about the transition from SETI@Home classic to BOINC, the nForcersHQ team has been transferred to the new system already.

Edit: Just changed the thread title to be more speicifc and avoid confusion with other BOINC based projects.

I Guess I'll go ahead and take one of systems running SETI@home and set it up with BOINC. I really hope to pass the 25,000 work units mark with SETI before the project ends. I'm at 22098 right now, so it might be close. But I might as well get started with the next SETI project too. Smile

I took 5000WU's as my cue to switch. You may be slightly disappointed as they tranferred the results on May 25th, so my profile says 4800 or so, rather than the true amount. Your total work may not be entirely reflected in your transferred BOINC account.

Hmmmm.... The website says that "Account Creation is Disabled". Guess I'll start SETI back up again. Rolling Eyes

I don't really understand what BOINC is. Is it an application that controls various DC projects? How do I transfer my current SETI stats over to BOINC?

You shouldn't need to create a new account, you can just activate your already transferred and waiting account. Unless they've turned that off as well after word and links leaked out a little early. I was able to activate mine yesterday at least. The project hasn't officially opened yet, and there may yet be problems, so don't be too worried. You can stilll safely stick with SETI classic. I personally suspect the publinc rollout will be in about two to three weeks, but that's just me and there's no evidence for that.

BOINC itself is the framework program, it caches work, stores stats and handles communications for each client project. Within BOINC you can run several client projects i.e. SETI@Home, Astropulse, Folding@Home, ClimatePrediction or your own homemade ones. Different clients can run simultaneously based on your priority preferences.

If you're still curious I could stick up some screenshots for you. Might help to better illustrate some things.

Thanks Spearman. Yeah, I'd like to see some screenshots if possible.
