Nforce4 and ATI Theatre 550 Pro, incompatible?

Ive just wasted 4 days trying to get my ATI Theatre 550 Pro working on my Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe mobo.. in the absolute best case, it would allow the tv viewing program (christv, beyondtv and gbpvr all) run for 30 seconds before locking up the whole system..

the video card in that system is also an nVidia chipset.. Evga 7900 GT KO ..

Ive just installed the card in my old system, an Nforce2 Asus A8N7X Deluxe based one and had it running in under 5 minutes.. problem is that system had limited memory, hard drive space and processing power and I need to do a bunch of good quality capturing in the next few days..

has anyone had problems with Nforce4 chipsets and ATI 550 series tuners? Ive seen some posts around the net with that kindve statement, but nothing definitive..

I run 2 theater 550's on my Nforce4 Ultra (Foxconn). Works fine. They do once in a great while act up and I have to cold-boot to fix them, but Very infrequently. I use the PCI express versions not the PCI versions and I only use them with the Windows Media Center 2005 PVR software so I can't comment on other software or setups.

BTW, I highly reccomend windows Media center, it works great. (I also run 2 ATSC cards as well, can record with all 4 at the same time, no problem)

I would make sure you have the latest drivers from ATI (there have been many updates) and the latest bios for your MB.
