Ditto, though I genuinely hate feeling all anti AMD at the moment, at least on the CPU front...

I think you're spending too much, you don't need dominator ram and all these bells and whistles.

I'd get a C2D as well, with a cheap gigabyte motherboard and standard XMS corsair ram.

I like the video card though, but you need to shave off a few hundred bucks at least.

Stick with the Raptors. Once you've had one you never want to go back.

You could look at swapping to two 75Gb versions and getting a getting a 400Gb 7200 as a backup/media store.

I can still run just fine of 75Gb of space for my main apps drive.

Thanks for all the good feedback. I'll go with the C2Q. It will be my first personal intel build.

Couple more questions, though. The motherboard you listed, Whitedragon, it is PCI 16 and not PCI E 2.0 x 16. What is the difference?

I was thinking this one.

PCI-E 2.0 x16 has a almost double the bandwidth of 1.1. My bad, I didn't see that the card you were looking at was 2.0.
Here's a search I did for 2.0 boards for Socket LGA775:

IMHO, the x38 chipsets rock!

Thanks again. Other question is I plan to RAID 0 the two raptors drives. Is that the best setup for performance/speed?
