Hi
I have:
- new 2600+ Sempron
- new Abit NF7-S2G
- 2x512Mb Geil DDR400
- 120Gb Seagate P-ATA
- 3yr old Radeon 9500 Pro
- 350W PSU
I've connected up just the CPU, gfx and monitor. When I push the power button, the fans all spin up, but nothing else happens. No beep and nothing on the monitor.
The little LED's on the board light up, showing both a green and red light. Can someone please suggest idea's to try?
I'm about to try and flash the BIOS to Abit's latest version.
Edit: Just a small update, I set the jumper to clear the CMOS and powered up (without putting the jumper back, as a test). The speaker emitted single long beeps, about 5 seconds apart
Thanks

Nf-7 question
when I hit start button green led lights up for a split second (the red led is on all the time), my graphics fan spins and then everything dies. I have replaced north bridge fan with a passive cooler but I doubt that that is the cause for this happening. perhaps I have short circuited something while working on my mobo???
any suggestions?
Bostjan

The AN7 has BIOS settings where it will shut down if the CPU and NB fans aren't spinning. Don't know if the NF7 also has this but it's worth checking your manual since these boards are very similar.
Anyway, clearing the CMOS in an AN7 clears these settings so the board will POST. Worth a shot.
Also you might want to doublecheck the PSU connections and that the CPU HS hasn't been loosened.

thanks for advice, but as it turns out I was just too slopy when connecting the cabels to the mobo. I took apart my computer again and put it back together with a little more care and now it works perfectly. though I did have to switch off the notification about fans not spinning since I have replaced both CPU cooler and NB cooler with passive coolers. MY new CPU cooler is Thermaltake's Sonic tower which I have equipped with 12cm silent fan which revolves at 1000rpm. I was getting alarm whenever I started AbitEQ and I had to disconnect that alarm. For the NB I used Revoltec North bridge freezer, since my original fan was going very loud and was very annoying.
I'm sattisfied with both changes since my new temperatures are :
system: 30°C
CPU: 39°C
(AMD Duron 1800)
bye

Hi fellow Techs.
I have the same exact problem you do and the same exact motherboard. I tried everything from removing everything and connecting just the mobo and power supply. I even put new power supply. I get a red LED saying LED2 on the board.
I did the jumper refresh, no work. Fan works for 3 or 4 seconds, but then power shuts off to fans, only get the red LED left. I got this puter from a customer who no longer wants it. If anyone knows where the manual is or has one, please email it to me. I tried net. It gives me a Error loading site. Thats the Abit site. Ayways, any help would be appreciative.
Thanks,
Max |
