Hi all,
My M7NCG 400 after 2 or 3 years finally seems to be flaking out. I am still in the process of troubleshooting but that seems to be the case right now. Just so you know I've put it through hell and I'm suprised it's lasted this long. Anyways, to rule out possible BIOS issue I upgraded the BIOS to the latest seen here:
http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7ncg+400
I have an AXP mobile 2600+ that has been modded to be recognized as an AXP MP from the previous owner(it runs fine as a single though obviously). After the BIOS upgrade it's recognized as a Sempron and I can't change the multi from the default (which is 6 in the case of mobiles) even though the option to change it is still there. This is just a heads up. You may not want to uprade unless you aren't overclocking and using a Sempron, or be sure to save your old BIOS (which I didn't do, and hating life having to find it now...I had the BIOS right before this but isn't listed on the website).
I am currently browsing here for the old one: ftp://ftp.biostar-usa.com/bios/ |

Hi qquiz,
I know this post is a little old, but were you able to fix the problem? I too had the same issue, but then I noticed that I had mistakenly flashed the my M7NCG 400 (Rev. 1) with the BIOS for Rev. 7x
I noticed that the Biostar-USA site doesn't distinguish the BIOS' for the different board versions like the Biostar international site:
http://www.biostar.com.tw/support/bios/socket.php3?socket=a
Just a thought.

I'm in the same crap hole here. I have a 2600+ Barton mobile that is capable of 2.5ghz and I cannot get the freaking multiplier off 6x. I have a v7.2 board.
I have to get this fixed. PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you get this figured out. |

Woohoo! Ok, so trying an old BIOS seemed to fix the multiplier problem. I'm using the NCG0917 BIOS. Unfortunately, it's not stable at 200mhz, though.
I'll try a new BIOS, but I don't know which to try next.

The naming numbers seem to go down compared to the date. I can't decide which to try next.[/url] |
