Today I decided it's time I upgrade my home network to Gigabit. Norton Ghost is starting to take longer to finish backing up.
Ran to my local CompuRipOff and bought myself a Belkin 5 port switch along with a Belkin Gigabit network card.
I threw the gigabit NIC in my other PC and tried using the A7N8X Deluxe onboard 3Com gigabit adapter. Both the switch and Windows XP detect the NIC as a 100 Mbps adapter.
I installed the drivers from Asus's website and still nothing. The cable is Cat5e. The cable running to the other PC with the Belkin adapter is custom made ethernet wire. Which is also Cat5e.
I'm starting to think the 3com is really a 10/100 and not gigabit. Anyone know whats wrong?
