Re: MotherBoard Monitor 5 FAQ *Update*

Tried the files and they worked great. In fact after reading through the whole thread, I decided my temps were a lil' high, (51-55 diode, 45-49 socket, MB 32.
I've had 1 intake in front, 2 out in back and 1 out in the side panel. Don't know why but after 6 months I went "Doh!" and reversed the side panel fan. Now it reads 42-46 diode, 39-42 socket, and 30 MB.

Very happy with how MBM works now

Yay, a positive result on a 2.0 board! (That was my main concern, since mine were "built" on a 1.04 board). And airflow/case fan configuration can be trick. What seems best in theory may not work best for your particular setup - I always recommend people try EVERY combination of intake/outake in every position possible to find out what cools the best.

Update on .ini Files - I just came across as case where someone with a 2.0 board had their Case and Socket temps switched after isntalling the files. This is bizarre, as that means MBM needed to be set up for a 1.04 board to work right. Anyone with a Rev 2 board experience this with MBM?

Also, his Diode temps seemed exceptionally low (although he had a well lapped HS) - if anyone experiencing this after installing the ini files, please let me know.

Just wanted to add my thanks for this thread, Nerbil. I reformatted and reinstalled a couple of nights ago and when I added MBM, I remembered seeing this thread and came here for a quick refresher on the settings :)

Wondering if this is right. I just installed MBM5 with the ver. 1.04 data files. I have a A7N8X Deluxe with a 2800+ @ 179*13.5= 2420mhz
CPU vcore 1.75

Idle temp: Diode 52 C
Socket 50 C
Case 22C

Load temp with Prime 95 running 10 mins:
Diode 59-65C
Socket 56 C
Case 24C

Questions are: am I using the right diode temp sensor?
and are these ok temps?

Thanks!!

Well, after 5 hours of Memtest, I'm at 49 diode, 43 socket, 33 mb. Zero errors so far, I might add! It's 104 degrees Farenheit outside and my A/C is fighting to keep up, so the MB is a little high compared to when it was cooler last night.

But still you are right, it's all in the fans. I knew had put the HS on the cpu right, so the case should have been staying cool. I've even been up to 206fsb and only broke 51 under full load. I'm tempted to try for higher, but this thing system does everything I need it to do at 202! Only problem is that even w/ the wire trick I can't go any higher than 12x multi and any lower than 11 times on the low side. Weird!

Thanks again for the ini files, I've saved them for future use, (if I can ever get my 1.04 working again as an entertainment PC for the living room).
Cheers! :D

Ive uninstalled MBM and reinstalled ..then configured it like posted above not using files..and it seems like temps where the same this time like when I used your file ...my Diode temp was definitaly fluxuating the way it should but at idle it was 35 socket and 30-33 for the diode but the diode was a few degrees cooler than the socket all the time...then if i run prime95 the diode fluxuates more often, then gradually gets hotter than the socket reading by only like one degree ..right now i let it run about 5 min's and the socket is 38 (steady) and the diode is 37-39..when i was using the 53320<~? MBM the temps made alot more sence the socket and case temps were about the same as now but the diode used to be like 40-43...which sounded more to were it should be..i cant go back to the 53320 MBM ...cuz they dont have it on their site any more..well maybe ill search for it and get it installed to see if that makes a difference ..other wise i dunno :?

sorry to run on just didnt wana miss anything;)

Nerbil wrote:Where can I download MBM?

I've created a "basic" set of .ini files that should make setting up MBM5 a snap!

YEEE HAAAA

I was hoping someone would do that ;-) I hate playing around with the settings and still not sure if I got it right!!

THANK YOU!!

ThundA - thanks for reinstalling MBM and setting it up manually. Means if the temps are wrong, its not my fault. Technically, upgrading to the newer version of MBM should not change temp readings. However, flashing a new BIOS will. Did you flash recently? (BTW, I've seen very few cases where the Socket temp was the same as the Case temp - Socket really should be higher normally.)

Sephroth777 (Sephiroth! Aah! Aah! Sephiroth! - I have that weird FF7 opera-ish FF7 music in my head now...) - Those temps look like they should be right, although the case temp seems low. You must have great air-circulation/cooling in your case, but your CPU temps are high for my tastes - and probably everyone else here as well. I don't wanna get this thread off topic - but inspect your HS installation. Search this site for more.

Cisco - YW.

Well, at this moment, the .ini files seem to be working okay. Keep those results coming in. :-)

I was thinking the same thing. I have a Thermalright SLK-800 with AS3 and a Panaflo 80mm H1A 39CFM the case is an Antec SX1030b with 2 front intake Panaflo 80mm M1A 32CFM/ 1 Side intake Panaflo 80mm M1A 32CFM/ and two exhaust Panaflo 80mm H1A 39CFM with an Antec True 550. I have been running the same setup for about 6 months now. Would lowering the CPU Mult. and raising FSB from 179 help...I am running 1.75 v to the CPU maybe too high?
