Unfortunately after working out the budget for my latest build I had to stick with onbaord audio. It will be some time before I can get a sound card as I have another child on the way in Sept. Ihave a M2N32-SLi Premium board. The Soundmax system is ok for the most part, but I definitely miss my Audigy card(that is before the Creative BS with Vista drivers) with regards to gaming and the media player. I will not get into my complaints about EAX and other issues. I just want to know, is there a program that will auto level the volume of the video files I have? My family and I enjoy watching the cartoons from the 80's, but many files were encoded at different volumes and codecs. And while the Creative player didn't play some (like Real, and Quicktime) codecs it did allow us to watch in our bedrooms with out the hugely disproportionate sounds. It really sucked to be falling asleep to Robotech and be woken up by explosions booming and knocking crap off our bookcase(I have a very nice Logitech audio system lol). If there is no such program I guess I will have to find another audio card from anyone but Creative. Are any of the other cards bundled with such a program?

Windows Media Player does auto volume leveling if you know where to find the option.

The only problem is that it only works with certain formats, even more limited than the Creative player. The option to make little difference between loud and soft sounds is the only thing it has going for it.

It works with pretty much all formats if you install the right codecs.

I think you misunderstood me. I have set up WMP to play all files, that is not a problem. Auto leveling only works with certain formats and those seem to be MS proprietary formats such as .wma. I want auto leveling to work with my .rmvb, mkv, avi, and others. Now as I said earlier Creative's player worked with quite a few formats but not all(just more than WMP) and I would be happy with a player that auto levels most formats. I have spent months looking but have found nothing yet. I cannot believe that no one has created a player that does this yet. If this is not possible then that information should be out there as well.
