PostPosted: Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:10 pm    Post subject: Help me out of hell, BSOD locked the gate!

I have been building a "new" (some older parts) system for the past 3weeks, and haven't been able to dig me out of hell since then.
The building went fine, installed windows, installed all software and then came our beloved friend, the BSOD!
It appeared each time I used IE/MSN or just played a game. The system was indeed slow(very) at some other points.

As always, memory is a big fish among BSODs, ran memtest86 for about 20h, no errors, then ran prime95 for about the same amount of time, no errors.
Well, could it be software. Reformated the hdd and installed a fresh windows.
To find out whether it's software or hardware, I ran memtest/prime95 with a fresh windows with only essential drivers installed, nforce board drivers and Nividia display driver. (all updated)
Everything went fine with memtest, but got a BSOD with prime95 even though prime showed no error.
Could it be the BIOS? Updated the bios to trats 1013. Same results...
Increased memory voltage, same results. Change memory timing, same results. Changed memory slots 1-2,1-3,2-3, same results.
The BSOD shows up each time I run prime95, but I doubt it's the cause.
Well, maybe it's the PSU, replaced the PSU, same results.

Basically standing against the wall, no idea what causes this, and no idea what to test anymore. Furthermore, I tried to video encode for 8h, no problems at all. But as BSOD is still showing up during prime, the system is unstable.

System specifications:
Windows XP Home Edition SP1(fresh install)
A7N8X-E Deluxe 1013 trats bios, same problem with regular 1013
AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+, OC'ed to 2400mhz, 1.7v (not the cause)
Samsung PC2700 2x512mb
Nividia Geforce 5700LE
Samsung 500GB S300 16MB 7200RPM (HD501LJ)

Latest BSOD:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel [burger] is available get stack backtrace.

Arg3: 00000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a [burger] gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c000001d, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 805833f4, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: f7a9eb84, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Have you installed any add-in PCI cards? Maybe its a IRQ problem, try to remove installed cards and look if the problem is still there.
