Ok, I just built my first computer friday and up until now its been running fine but today is a different story. I left for college and returned and someone had turned off my computer, and instead of turning it off the right way they just hit the power button.

I return home and start the computer and it says the windows has been turned off improperly blah blah. I hit start windows normally and the computer restarts, beings to boot, goes to the Gigabyte graphic at the start of the boot. Beeps once then beeps 5 times and goes to the blue screen that says its updating/deleting bios do not power off.

Now it just starts up and goes through same boot process over and over doing the same thing. I've tried putting the windows disk in and that doesn't work. Being my first computer build I'm fairly new at this so if you guys know what to do help me out! Please!

I had the same problem just now after trying to run my RAM at its rated (and SPD) settings... I'm not entirely sure of the complete list of reasons to restore the backup BIOS, but the way I got around it was to remove all 4 sticks of memory, and put the fastest DIMM in slot 3. Then I could get into the BIOS configuration and manually set the RAM speed back, allowing me to put all 4 DIMMs in.

Another problem I had a lot when I first set up the machine was it being stuck on the Gigabyte Logo screen, with it not accepting keyboard input. I got it started in a similar manner, messing with 1 DIMM in different slots until I got a response.

Good luck; whoever invented the Dual BIOS switchover code with conditions and defaults that do it automatically is an idiot. Anybody know how to bypass reflash code when it's in an endles loop? Apperently setting it to not do it automatically is not enough.
