Any technical help/personal knowledge offered up here is appreciated. Yes, there's that other Forum. But maybe it'll liven this one up some.
Just ordered up seven Ultra-D's and the proper number of Evercool VC-RE's too.
The A8N-E's standard memory dividers just aren't getting it now that I'm FINALLY laid-off for the winter. Don't get me wrong, the A8N-E's are a good board, I'm now interested in seeing how far I can take 'em.
The VC-RE's? Are they a necessity due to failing fans or simply for high FSB OC's? I'd rather not have to swap all seven.
Anyone here tell me if the plastic backing plate will have problems after mounting an XP-90? Or should I get some metal backing plates too?
Is one ram better on the -D than the other, G.Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX or OCZ OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K? They're both 2-3-2-5 and I've enough of each to populate these seven, and then some. The G.Skill kits aren't the early good ones but are still good to ~240'ish. But hey, eight G.Skill 2Gb kits for $1000US was hard to say no to.
PSU's are all split-rail Enermax Liberty 500's and 620's. I don't forsee any problems from using these.
BIOS will most likely end up as 704-2BTA unless someone here says otherwise.
TIA

Well for starters the original backing plate should be just fine. I use a stock backplate on an XP120 without issue.

The RAM isn't likely to make too much difference ie Gskill vs OCZ. I've had good luck with both.

I take it your new boars are in wardog? How did you make out with the transfer from the ASUS boxes? Let us know how you made out.

Not yet. I got called in from the winter layoff for 10-12 days of work
I've pulled the plugs on 'em and gotten as far as pulling all the 150's. Now to find the time to properly assemble each and test.
I did manage getting an Ultra-D/150/G.Skill purring. Uninstall the Asus specific apps, moved the HD's and presto. She fired right up.
Lastnight I pulled one of the 185's for an SLI-DR Expert. Decided I'd better concentrate on building me MY machine and migrate the
data/settings before moving on to the crunchers. |

Can't blame you for that but it appears that the switcheroo worked with the first one. Heres hopeing you are just as lucky with the rest.
