A7N8E-X No sound in front speakers

My problem is that to get any sound out of my sound card I have to connect my speakers to the back speaker jack and then clone the two front speakers to the back speakers. This leads to the problem that when I use some software I don't get any sound. I have no sound when using Quicktime or Flash. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem might be and how I can fix it?

(I'm using the speakers in my monitor and the only way I was able to get sound, was by running the sound wizard in 5.1 mode and then I put the speaker cable in each of the sound jacks and tested them all. That's how I worked out that I could get sound in the "back" speakers.)

Fingers crossed someone has an idea, because it's really annoying.

Are you using the back panel audio outputs? If so, it sounds like you're having the same problem as me, as I couldn't get any sound from the front left or right speakers. In my case, I found that the Front Panel audio connector on the motherboard didn't have the 2 jumpers it needed when not being used. There's more details on page 2-26 of the manual.
