Hey Folks,

I have a Biostar Tforce 6100-939 board that is MicroAtx. It's been good to me so far, but I've run into a major snag. My PCI-E Video card has a big fan that disallows anything in the 1st PCI slot. So, I put my Audigy 2 ZS in the PCI 2 slot (there are only two slots). The problem is both of these pieces share IRQ 16 making my sound card unusable. Let me know if you can help.

Thanks

Wow, IRQ conflict. Been awhile since I heard about that one. Apparently you're not using ACPI mode. Is this intentional, or by accident? WinXP and Linux should automatically detect ACPI mode and address the hardware accordingly, working around the limited number of hardware IRQ's.

Is the BIOS up to date? If you're using WinXP, which HAL did it install?

I actually am using ACPI, it allows the two devices to share the same IRQ without conflict, but they both perform poorly. For instance, when I install all the drivers for the Audigy 2 I get a lot of static and can't hear the MP3 or whatever unless I turn the volume all the way, and even then it is very, very faint. I've heard of IRQ sharing working fine for some people, but never between two major devices like a Video card and sound card. Thanks for the help and reply.
