I recently purchased an M7NCG-400 for a build that I am making for a friend. Bought it mainly because it was about the only matx Nforce2 where you could adjust the multi / voltages. Anyway, after getting it I noticed it was the PCB v7.0 board and did not see any multi / voltage adjustments in the bios (even flashed to the latest one). So I emailed Biostar and this is what they had to say:

Quote:
The version 7.0 does not have these functions sorry. Only the version 1.0 and the 7.2 and above will have the multiplier options. Cannot be changed with a simple bios update because it requires a special chip.

Thank You

So far the board seems pretty stable...but if you want to overclock make sure you're not getting the 7.0 version.

Thanks for the info. Too bad Bstar did that w/ the 7.0 - takes away one feature that I think people find attractive in this board along with the low price.

But on the otherhand, perhaps this would cut down on the number of RMA returns from oc'ing too high and is why they did that.

oh yeah. what kind of cpu are you using? The wire trick could bring you lower multi's if you got FSB setting you could still o/c a little. I can get 10X200 with little or no additonal voltage (stable) with this t'bred. I used wire trick on mine. You got the numbers on your cpu?

Well this was just for a friend and I was using an extra 1800+ that I had laying around. The chip is stable at 11.5x166 & 1.65v (pin modded). That's good enough for what she needed. Did find that the built in ethernet was buggy though. It would work fine for a few seconds then seem to lose connectivity. Had to use an extra ethernet card. Overall I'm not too impressed with the board. I think I'm probably done with Biostar....next time I'm going to stick with Asus or Abit.

It's a pity they have done this again!
I bought an M7NCG which was the best MATX socketA board full stop, but they didnt make clear anywhere that they had chopped out everything but fsb adjust with rev 3.0 of the board!

The M7NCG-400 is still a nice board but a pity they dont do an MCP-T version.

[blame me for the swear filter] it! I just gave my Asus A7N8X-VM back because it had no Vcore / multi options and bought a M7NCG. Too bad it is Rev.3.0. I think I'll have to buy yet another board Sad Sad

according to a recent review on NewEgg, they are shipping v7.2 boards now.

I guess I'll see in about a week as I just ordered one yesterday.
