I have a two and a half year old Biostar M7NCG 400 that worked fine when I first put the system together. It has an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton processor and DDR3200 memory. The BIOS is Award V6.00PG.
The computer has been unused for about a year or so, and when I recently fired it up, I got a message that said it had lost its BIOS settings. I guess the battery has to be recharged more often than once a year. Well, not having written everything down, I tried to remember all of the BIOS settings, but every time after booting, the computer went off into never-never land.
The last time, I must have entered an invalid configuration so that the computer no
longer even boots into the BIOS. Does this motherboard have a way to set a failsafe that at least allows me to boot again into the BIOS?
And then, can someone please help me with how to reset to the appropriate BIOS settings?
Thanks in advance, Ron |

Replace the battery. They are available at many stores in the US. Just take the old one with you and get the correct type. It sounds as if your motherboard thinks it is already powered on (EPROM). Disconnect the power cord and press the power on pushbutton for five seconds and then press it a few more times for good measure. Connect the power cord and try to see if you can get into BIOS again. If so, you can follow the instructions Here in the upper section. If you cannot get into BIOS, you will need to download AWDFLASH.exe and run it as instructed at the bottom of the page.
You need to know which motherboard you have. Is it Rev. 7.x? Choose the BIOS from the list

or M7NCG 400.
The floppy disc must be formatted as DOS bootable. Unzip the downloaded BIOS to the DOS bootable floppy.
Use the default settings until you read the Manual available from the Biostar site.
