I tried the 1000 hz hack, and my USB ports couldn't handle it, you just re-install the backup you made before you changed it, and nothing happenned.
I use USB on all my gaming boxes, I think I'm lazy and there are still one or two that have ps2 adaptors on the mice.
My personal advice on it is to try the ps2 port first, increase the sampling rate to 200 hz and notice the smoothness.
It will be like when you first used an optical mouse, you'll just play with the mouse for a while, hehe.
Settings -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Hardware -> Properties -> Advanced Settings -> Sample Rate
Make sure you use the ps2 port to try this out.
If you notice a big difference, game on it for a few days, if you like it like that, keep it ps2.
If you want more, I'm sure I can point you in the right direction to hack your USB.
BTW, you'll want a mouserate checker to make sure that you got what you think you do.

I use that one.

I thought abouit it and went for USB mode!I dont play very much(not FPS) so i think i wont need the USB hack!Think 125Hz is enought for now!
What do u think should i switch to PS2 and go for 200Hz?Will i notice a slight diference?
I installed the mouse(latest software) on USB so i think switching to PS2 will screw up the mouse drivers...

Any ideas plz?

TY

If you have a PS2 adaptor there's no reason not to use the PS2 port at 200hz, the mouse smoothness is definately noticeable.
Another thing, if you plan to possibly upgrade to the USB hack someday be sure NOT to get a cordless mouse, the receiver won't be able to keep up.
In XP there's no way to screw up the drivers short of hot-swapping the PS2 port.
Now way would I pay $75 for a mouse when you can buy a $8 optical mouse with good DPI, o/c the port it's plugged into, and get better smoothness.

Most likely, it was either designed to work at 125hz, or 250 hz, and it would be certainly no slower than the USB bus, only faster.
The ps2 port is the safe way to most likely all the speed and response you'll need.

I just leave mine on the pad. The mouse will last ~21 days on a full charge, so I don't really worry about that. It has an on/off switch too, which is handy.
