Hoping someone can help me. Been happy with the lanparty mb with my 1gb dimm. Converting the system into my home server and tried to add 3*512 sticks of ram. All sticks at ddr400, but I cannot get the system to post!

It will post with my 1gb dim (kingston value)
It will post with my 512mb (ultra value)
It will post with my 2 512mb (no name)

Any combination of the above and it will not post Sad

The 3*512mb (have not tried with the 1gb) all work fine together in my ASUS mb with a 3200+.

I have tried setting the DRAM freq to 166mhz (ddr333) as all of the dims are double sided, but same.

Any suggestions?

Hello obiwan05, and welcome to nForcersHQ.

Boy, I wish ya all the luck. What you're attempting will most likely prove to be a no go, but let's give 'er a shot ......

What is the SPD(default timings) programmed for on each of your 1Gb, KVR, Ultra Value, and no name?

Thanks!

I will get all that info when I get home tonight and post.

I am assuming that the LanParty UTs are very picky with memory then?

Well, to be nice, in this instance any MB will be "picky'.

And that it's a LanParty board isn't gonna make this any easier.

Okay, finally was able to play:

1GB timings are 3-3-8-3
512 Ultra timings are 2.5-3-8-3
512 generics are 3-4-8-4

I did try to disable CPC (goes to 2T from 1T) but same problem... any suggestions?

With four sticks the Command Rate will need to be set at 2T.

Try setting your mem timings in the BIOS manually to : 3 - 3 - 8 - 3. Your 1Gb and Ultra should boot at this. It's the two generics that may offer a problem.

Give it a go at 3-3-8-3 and ...............

Hold on here a sec. Let me think if you can populate 1x1Gb and 3x512Mb?

... .. .

Ok, try this. Setting 2T and 3-3-8-3 put the 1Gb in DDR1(Channel A) and your two generics in DDR3(Channel B) and DDR4(Channel B).

Edit: To those that might be reading this. Yes, I know 2T isn't needed for three sticks. I'm hoping 2T will accomodate for the differences in timings between the sticks and at least allow it to boot.

Okay, thanks, I will give that a try when I get home tonight.

For the record, I was able to boot my 64-3200+ Asus A8N-VM SCM system without problem.

Well thanks for the help guys but I have finally given up Sad

Following all the suggestions here and other places I've read, the best I could do was 1.5GB total out of the ram I have.

1GB in A + Ultra 512MB or one of the generics in Bworked.

1GB in A + any of the 512s in the other A did not work, it would not post.

Also any combination of 3 dimms would not post apparently by design.

So I have swapped the DFI out for my cheap ASUS mobo and it is happely posting with 2.5GB of ram.
