Been trying to make it so I can plug/unplug a SATA2 drive in a CoolerMaster X-Craft enclosure using the eSATA port. Seems to only want to work if I set the SATA controllers to RAID mode in the BIOS. In IDE mode I can only use the drive if it's connected at boot time, and it can't be unplugged.
I thought AHCI was also incorporated into IDE mode on later nVidia chipsets. My board is nForce 570 Ultra MCP55. Perhaps this is not late enough?
Have tried this with both nVidia 15.17 chipset drivers and Fernando's Performance Pack.
If I do have to use RAID mode should I just enable it overall, while leaving each channel as 'Disabled' (the board has the option to do so for each SATA channel)? Setting all channels to 'Enabled' causes the RAID BIOS to load which is something I don't want seeing as I only have one HDD. Plus my DVD is SATA, which means it disappears completely if I set it like this.
Am using the latest BIOS from the Abit website btw (version 23).
Thanks.
