I removed the 6.86 drivers properly after the restart even deleted then them off my HDD and used CCleaner to remove any reg entries. I then installed everything with the 15.17 package and installed the latest realtek audio drivers.

Since installing the 15.17's I keep getting a Limited or No Connectivity ! mark on my Ethernet icon in my task bar when I boot 1st time and maybe 3rd or 4th.

My PC fails to read DVD-ROM's sometimes and my Samsung DVD-RW is 3 months old even cleaned the drive with a lens cleaner still fails to read some discs. It even had problems reading official music albums and caused rip failures.

Today when burning a DVD afterwards it was doing the varifing thing I use Nero 7 fully updated and all of a sudden it rebooted event viewer in XP Pro shows no errors.

I have reverted back to 6.86 but stayed with the Microsoft IDE drivers and the latest realtek audio driver strange how it's only happend to me.

the v10.3.0.21 is the driver inside v15.17.. v6.86 came with nvataxx.sys driver while the new nvgtsxx.sys drivers.

"Limited or No Connectivity" means that the network controller didn't go in well. The new ones are bit more than the old ones so this is hardest update process there is and often fails if the HardwareIDs are not in the NIC driver infs. Otherwise haven't noticed anything. (specially with old chipsets you didn't mention the chipset you are using)

Don't know system even you have, but this has nothing to do with these drivers, if the DVD-ROM/RW whatever wouldn't show at all it would be IDE/SATA drivers. Scratchy/false writing/reading is because DVD-Drive firmware OR in Windows XP systems use company called 'Adaptec' Aspi layer which is error correcting layer used also with Nero while New nero programs also goes through it even while there is so called 'Nero ASPI'.

I suggest you post more information of equipment you use for us to even try to understand what might be wrong else than uncompatible Network Controller driver & bad DVD-Drive writing/reading/data detection.

I am usuing the Nforce4 standard chipset and this is my rig below

Windows XP Pro SP3
ECS Nforce4 A939 Motherboard V1.0 BIOS 1.1k
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 Manchester 2.0ghz x2 - Akasa Evo120 HS/Fan
GEIL 2GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR Kit
Maxtor D-Max 10 250GB 7,200rpm 8mb SATA-II
XFX GeForce 6600GT 128mb PCI-E
Samsung SH-S183L 18x SATA DVD-RW

My router is a Netgear DG834GT Router with them new drivers I had installed when my PC was booting up the number on my router my PC was plugged into would be orange. And the welcome desktop would be slow to load due to the limited of no connectivity after 40 mins the adapter will finally have an IP address the net still works even without 1 but it's annoying.

I have the latest firmware from Samsung that improved game reading to make it faster, and I am using the latest graphics drivers. My DVD-RW never vanished from the system it just would not read any discs and wouldn't even bring up that windows option of what I want to do with it like play music, open folder.

Since reverting back the system is better more responsive and like of nero finish verification on burned discs and porgram load quicker.

Well I know for sure these doesn't have support for your board in infs. That kinda eliminates that your network could even be functional. You can thank nvidia for that.

Routers has nothing to do with this. they are 3rd party devices. as what goes to chipset drivers. Check fernando post that v67.80 of NIC does support your board although (I think I remember fernando mentioning he adds nforce4 supports. Combine that with v9.99.09 of Serial-ATA to get some speed out of box.)

Read1st: as/if the drive worked before it should work now, regardless is firmware up-to-date verifying isn't ever bad as is below information is just extra information you might wanna take a look....
what goes to DVD firmware & aspi I'd first check on Nero Ahead site if there's new Nero ASPI available for your Nero and Adaptec to get ASPI error corrections in control. Also take a look toHere and Here depending on need and well it ain't bad idea to keep drive updated to support more media types.

-edit-

ps. sorry for my extremely bad typos/english there..

Just to clarify:
The Ethernet drivers v6.80 of my actual "Performance Packs" are WHQL and do natively support nForce4 chipsets, whereas the included nForce IDE drivers v9.99.09 are customized ("modded") to make them usable for all NF4-7 chipsets.

I figured it would be nVidia's fault apparently they have just been caught cheating with there latest BETA drivers for 3D Mark because of them including Physix inside the drivers and its not allowed.

I have fully gone back to the 6.86 including sound I am thinking about installing the SATA driver from that package seeing what happens currently using the Microsoft drivers performance is back to normal very responsive.
