hello, i've looked around the internet trying to find a definitive answer, but couldn't. i found this site as figured this would be a good place to post, so here goes:
i just built a new computer:
intel e8400
msi p7n platinum motherboard (nforce 750i chipset)
2x250gb hitachi t7k250 sata II
and i was trying to install windows vista x64 with SP1 on it. i went to nvidia's site and downloaded the newest 10.3.0.21 WHQL sataraid drivers. i enabled raid in bios. when setup asked me to load the raid drivers, i pointed it to my flash drive which had the sataraid drivers i just downloaded. but when i try to load them, it just says "To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-but and signed 64-bit drivers. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unstable Windows installation."
so it seems like setup is unable to load the raid drivers because they are not signed. so it can't find either of my drives. has anyone else tried installing sataraid with vista x64 sp1? im stumped!
finally, what stripe size should i use for raid 0? i mostly play games, team fortress 2, crysis. thanks in advance! |

Have you set your freashly created RAID array as bootable within the MediaShield tool?
Are you sure, that you took the correct 15.17 driverpack for Vista x64?
NVIDIA has mixed up everything during the first days after the release. Look into the README.TXT file of the package to see which version you got. |

| what do u mean by mediashield? i used the bios utility to add my two drives into a raid 0 array, if that is what you mean. since i am starting with two empty drives. and yes, i am using the right drivers, i downloaded a new copy of them straight off the nvidia website. i heard somewhere that vista x64 with sp1 slipstreamed won't work whereas non-sp1 will work. why would that be so? |

Yes, I meant the BIOS RAID utility.

That's curious, because NVIDIA's official nForce chipset driver packs do not contain any unsigned drivers.
You should load just the SATARAID driver folder of the actual pack 15.17. If you really should not be able to get Vista x64 installed by using these drivers, I recommend to take them off NVIDIA's packs 9.46 or 9.64.

Vista SP1 (32/64bit) natively contains nForce S-ATA and RAID drivers, which are slightly different from the Vista RTM in-box ones (Vista RTM has v8.22, Vista SP1 has v8.33). |

I am also unable to install the sata raid controller driver when attempting to setup Vista x64 SP1 on my PC. As is the case with the person who posted above, it will find the driver but will not install it basically saying that is unsigned.
One thing I accidentally stumbled upon though when I had given up and decided to install 32 bit vista is the following:
so... I decided to give up and install 32 bit vista, downloaded the sata raid drivers for 32 bit vista, loaded the driver raid driver and my raid partition was then found. I then cancelled the installation by mistake which returned me to the first screen at which point I chose to install x64 instead of x86 and the partition was found.
Now obviously this is loaded from a 32 bit driver, but does anyone know if this will make a difference or not? I didnt bother installing x64 just incase I [blame me for the swear filter] something up! |

1. Either NVIDIA or you obviously have something mixed up. It is not possible to get a 64bit OS like Vista x64 working with natively 32bit drivers and vice versa you will not be able to get Vista x86 installed by using natively 64bit SataRaid drivers.
Please check the used nForce SATARAID drivers again. The 32bit drivers are named NVSTOR32.SYS and NVRD32.SYS, wheras the NVSTOR64.SYS and NVRD64.SYS are the 64bit drivers.
2. Because of the troubles users got especially with the nForce IDE drivers v10.3.0.21 yesterday NVIDIA has withdrawn their new 15.17/15.18 packs from their websites and replaced them by the previous ones. |
