Upgrades Vistas built in tech and is a new version of Windows Desktop Search when dealing with XP as well.
I have the preview installed on my Vista box, so I'm downloading it of course. The preview was impressive.

Doubt too many of us are using Server OSes, so if you are, find it yourself :p |

| I installed it.. I guess it's supposed to be a nicer search? But I went to search for a file and it didn't find it.. went and used the original search and it found the file just fine. Also noticed it added another service/process. |

If you have a lot of documents, desktop search applications are very useful. You can do combined searches of mail and all supported file types.
I use Copernic desktop search personally. |

| It won't necessarily find everything right away as it has to re-index everything on install, as it uses a very different index format. |

I find it useful even though I don't. I always hated Googles desktop search app but the one in Vista is a quick way to get to whatever you need.
I usually use it when I need the Device Manager, since I don't need a permanent link to that anywhere and its just a quicker way to get to it. Also Services, and Computer Management when I need that...it's just much quicker than going to the buried options manually. |

And this... "thing" adds 10% more processes to my work system.
Uninstalling it! |

Well, processes need to be added to handle the indexing and search functionality. Copernic also allows fine grain control over what gets indexed (down to individual file types and folders) and when. |

Of course. Still the Celeron 1100 with 512MB RAM.
Vista would be fun...
