I have done my share of bios flashes of late as I have had some memory problems, as can be seen in other post.

http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/a7n8x-bios-reading-wrong-cpu-speed-after-flash-upgrade-vt71409.html

I have just reverted to standard 1009 (from Trats mod 1009mod-2T) and changed memory settings to Memory voltage 2.8V and timings to 2-3-2-5 for some OCZP4002GK, this was recommended by OCZ.

Upon reboot I get one beep only and nothing else. I cannot enter bios as nothing shows up on screen.

I have cleared cmos several times, swapped graphic card, changed memory with all variations of slots used

Have I killed my A7N8X ver 1.04 award bios.

I am now getting to be quiet expert at clearing cmos, even got it down to removing battery, unplugging power cord and holding down power button just to make sure, plus doing the jumper thing of course. Rolling Eyes

Beep is a good sign it's component failure. actually had the codes somewhere on manual or something. I think end of manual you could take a look what failure it is.

Also, unplugin power taking power cord off and rising the processor / putting back to the slot straight. makes Mobo detect the CPU again. You could try booting without memory see what that does. Video card could be also one could try taking it off if you got on board try with that (perhaps something mixed on usage of onboard / PCIE switch at BIOS because of CMOS clears) and and.. Well, you get my ideas in when I say 'less there is in less there is to bug.' testing one at the time usually helps me resolve what is causing it.

Also I believe, if it would be an BIOS corruption inserting USB in with good BIOS file names as boardname.rom flashes the BIOS automatically. if not you could try the ASUS CD it should flash it if it detects corrupt bios.

here's second choise..

Just thought I would post back and say I purchased a new bios chip (1009 bios) and tool extractor for 22.00 euro and replacement was easier than I thought.

My board posted on first boot and the OCZP4002GK ram is working fine Very Happy

I’m leaving it a stock settings Rolling Eyes
