Well, dunno why this is so, but have here Vista x64 edition and if I try to install IA-64 components any component like WMI Filters, Installers states 'Your system does not need this update' or 'this component is not compatible with your system.'.
Now as fat of my understanding EMT64 was specifically designed also to have true full support for AMD64 instructions, but why not use the Intel specified IA-64 while it is available in everything for an Intel chipset/processor board (to even make then uncompatible) I wonder?
or is there something I am missing here? Wouldn't Intel64 intel's own instruction set be hell a lot faster utilizing the hardware for Operating system? or is this IA-64 actually the Itanium core x64 architecture alone?

| Yeah, and just call it the Itanium architecture cause there's no 32 bit version. |
