Right now I'm using SpeedFan and just recently tested Core Temp.

SpeedFan gives me 8 temp readings:

Temp1: 37c
Temp2: 45c
Temp3: 22c
Temp4: 40c
Core 0: 33c
Core 1: 31c
Core 2: 25c
Core 3: 25c

Now Core Temp gives me 4 readings:

Core 0: 48c
Core 1: 46c
Core 2: 40c
Core 3: 40c

I just want one overall temp reading of my processor like Asus Probe used to give me, which I can't get to launch in Vista 64. Do you know what these reading mean, if they are accurate and how to just get one cpu temp?

Core Temp is more accurate, I'd just use that.

Quad's can get quite hot in normal use but it's fine, don't be suprised to see the temps going up to 70'C on each core under load with the stock heatsink.

speed fan has a bit allows you to send him a report

as he is a one man band he needs these

as its impossible for him to own all the boards and cpu around

and he often follows it up direct

and is a nice guy

one of my friends with a core2 swears that a proggy called "real temp" is more accurate than core temp.. I can't use it since it's Intel CPU's only so I can't compare.. I guess he found it at xtremesystems. *shrug*
