Well, I usually buy an cards cheap as they go for GPU, but having hard time lately. Last card I owned was 8600 GTS, but seems it's really getting old now days. So where's the 22-30fps (Meaning with entire game full set under DX10) on Crysis, assassin's creed, etc, newest of newest titles now days I wonder. Would old model 8800 GTX do the trick seems quite cheap, atm, or do I need some new 9800GX (these 9x00 serie cards costs a small fortune)?

(Also been looking ATI radeon 3870 X2/GF 9800GX2 cards which would be ideal but 350-400Euros for an graphic card??? hell it should bounded in to heavenly lightning-fiber channel before I pay that...)

hmm, little note..

checked some benchmarking on web most of them seems to lie quite loads. So anyone actually knowing what they are doing and actually owns the card would be much appreciated to answer.

and little addition seems even ATI Radeon 2900XT would be one choise or perhaps the cheap model of 8800 GTS with 320Mb (Crysis does leak memory like next monday chipment supposed to run clean on 256 while you look at it's memory it's leaking up to 448Mb of graphical data on v1.1 under first load.). So I don't think anything below 512Mb would actually be able to be good card now days.

I really like my 8800GT 512mb. They're getting pretty cheap over here.. if it's too much there is also the 8800GS but it's kind of rare.

Both nVidia and ATi are preparing new models.

Yeah, really would love to see new models rolling out so so called 'X2' as in ""PPUs"" (meaning dual core) would come a bit cheaper I really liked the ATI 3870 X2 with 512-1024MB of memory, but it's way out of my limits, now at least. Hopefully the new cards will be 45nm and some serious power with lower wattage.

8800 GS and the GT you are probably prefer the G92 model is also on of options list, but for some reason I've lately turned so many things to ATI. Mostly because ATI is tweakable so clean while nvtray and such good tools are like waist of time now days without nv classic panels and middle of so hyped nTune. Anyhow you are correct on there 8800 GT would be ideal in this question I set here. It's cheap & probably would punch up requested speeds.

Price tags atm...

364.90 € - ATI Radeon HD3870 X2 512MB
359.90 € - Asus EAH3870X2 TOP/G/3DHTI/1G ATI
479.00 € - Gainward GeForce 9800GX2 1024MB
259.00 € - Gainward GeForce 9800GTX 512MB
189.90 € - Gainward Bliss nVidia 9600GT Golden Sample 512MB
169.00 € - MSI GeForce 8800 GT 512MB OverClocked
180.90 € - XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB DDR3
144.90 € - Asus EN9600GT/HTDI/512M NVIDIA 9600GT
148.90 € - Club 3D 9600GT 512MB NVIDIA 9600GT

So yeah seems 8800 is quite cheap atm and I think (this G92 and G80 series are mixing), but those even has the G92 chip. Wondering here how is the 9600 GT while at it it costs even less than the 8800...

I'd say the 8800GT is your best bang for your buck. The 9600GT performs pretty close except in games like crysis where having 112 Stream Processors vs the 64 stream processors of the 9600GT. But, for the money the 9600GT is a nice card.
