hey all....
i just purchased a Compro E650F, from australia, i was there for my exams, and had no PC there to try out the tuner, anyhoo, brought it back to my beloved rig, a A8N SLI PREMIUM running 1303 , and fernando's 9.46's IDE with 6.86 drivers, 169.25 for the 8800GT XFX, AND plugged it into the X4 slot, (i found out all PCI ex1 devices are upwards capable to X16 slots) thing is the HDD LED is now prepetually ON..... i figured ok, i had one of the three IDE Optical DVD rom not detecting, in BIOS, perhaps it was the cause, removed power and IDE, still no DICE, the CPU (a 3800X2 stock) peaks @ equivalent intervals but for the life of me there does not seem to be any file in startup or otherwise which could be HDD thrashing, without keeping the proc on LOAD for that long, so any ideas would be appreciated......
secondly, i am worried as any HDD i plug into this system, the RAW error rate apprently climbs qute quickly, but THERE ARE NO hallmarks of a HDD failing, 'cept the occasiona lPINGING (which is related to BIOS issues, had the issue in 1009 which the 1302 solved), but in Bios 1303, the pinging noises startup when backing up OS use ACRONIS (SMART reports all clear for all 03 HDD)
so please guys, and ladies, if there is any advice do help me out
thanks |

Well, first of all sounds like a mess there.
I think you should first of all check led cable being right place or are you using 'Q-Connector' (It's the white small thing comes with mobo meant for ordering the reset, Power led, HDD led etc etc to board)?
don't understand what what does "prepetually ON" mean is the HDD light like Solid on all the time? What type of HDD? Is the odd sounds (like spin downs)? Does the HDD function normally? Which Windows XP are we talking about 64-bit or 32-bit?
Lets start from there.

thanks for the response
dude, the HDD light being prepetually ON means it is a solid RED, and WinXP 32BIT task manager, shows a peak at regular intervals but for the life of me i cannot find any proggie therethat could be doing this....
the noise from the HDD, is a ping...noise, now i haven't had sucjh a problem occur ever, i can game et just fine, 'cept for the noise and the SMART RAW READ ERROR RATE i find no problems with my hdd
and no i don't hav the Q connector, the A8NSLI PREMIUM is a NF4 SLi full ATX mobo, this LED being on business started after i plugged inthe TV TUNER...but the drivers installed just fine, and the PC and tuner work ok, this LED being on happens in all the multiboot OS on my PC |

i am very sorry guys but i did not follow up with the issue i had posted, but it had gotten resolved only a few weeks prior to me posting this, the issue, it seems, was linked to a molex that was supplying power to my 06yr old (capable to read the worst of pressed/local made DVD-r's) creative 16X drive, that was apparently malfunctioning, (ie neither was it detecting, and neither was it completely dead, bios would try to recognise the drive and then eventually fail, but it did not take that uber long delay that happens if a failed HDD is detected, still connected to a port)
so mods issue solved ,and to all who helped thanks...... |
