First, I apologize if this is not the correct place for this post. I saw where there are several beta ver of drivers, was wondering if improve the 8600gt or if any correct problems with crashes related to nvata.sys. According to my minidump this is the culprate. I have a 8600gt (169.21 driver) on a MSI K9N4 SLI . It seems while playing cs:s, sometimes for 1/2 hr, sometimes 3 hrs, (everytime I think I fixed it, it will re-occur) the game screen stutters, freezes, then crashes the computer. It doesnt always produce a minidump, but on a few occasions it did with that error. Also the irq_not_equal_or_Less_than on the blue screen. I have X2 4200 dual core, 2G Dual channel corsair ram pc5400. This is far better than my old system, which had no issues with cs:s. On a side note, while trying to clear up this problem, uninstalling, updating ect, I uninstalled my ntune, and now on startup get "unable to load ntuneoem.dll". I have seen elsewhere where it was stated ntune didnt work with dualcore, but it was at least running previously. BTW, yes, amd dualcore optimize and windows dualcore hotfix are installed. Should I remove something from startup with msconfig so it doesnt try to load, or should I get ntune again (which I assume I uninstalled at some point) and are there different ver of ntune as well?

nvata.sys is your hard drive driver not video driver. Are you running raid? What operating system are you using? I'm not sure why it only happens while playing a game but you may want to look in the nforce drivers section.

Im not running raid, I have XP sp2, although my board supports raid. I actually just bought a 2nd drive and was GOING to raid it, but havent yet. I will look at the setup , but I just went thru the bios last night and didnt see anything wrong, altho I think the newwest nvidia MB drivers had something about the raid setup in them, altho I recently updated those as well, and it was occuring before and after.

Well, for some reason when I googled that driver again, I got some info I didnt the 1st time. Someone else tryed uninstalling the nvidia ide drivers and claimed it fixed it for them, so I am trying that. I have sata HDs so it should be fine. I will let you know if it helps. Thanks for the responce.

Hmm, yeah the nvata and GPU driver is indeed related with each other. Best case scenario with TV-Tuner cards the USB shuts down with removal of the Graphics drivers or even simply mix up driver order.

Anyhow, you can fix this by simply uninstall nForce drivers, including display & if there is attached TV-Tuner or USB plug them all in > install Graphic driver (prefer v174.85 or v174.93 (on XP) first. Then install nForce Driver pack.

Best order to install drivers is Audio > Graphics > Chipset > USB devices (like TV-Tuners) which in 9/10 system gives no problems. (Also, if you use some 8600 GT tweakers from 3rd party company like Gainward Expert tools or such suggest installing those all last).
