Looks pretty fine and generic there. Pretty much all the boxes ticked.
Might change the CPU cooler but its a matter of taste really.
Just make sure with bottom PSU loaded cases that the PSU has long enough cables (I think the Antec is bottom loaded).
I do like me Raptors for a system/apps drive (the 75Gb one is more than big enough for that). The WD locking SATA cables are worth getting for those. I think Overclockers still sell them. I got one on mine. The fancy Antec ones they sell look nice too.
Intel motherboards? Havent a clue.

I would change the ram and choose something with cas4.
Maybe this?
For such a build I guess you could stretch the budget with ~ 10 pounds.

There's no price difference between 32bit & 64bit Vista, that's why I chose the 64bit version. Thanks for the insight, one and all.  |

You might want to look at the 8800 GTS 512.. cheaper, and PCI-E 2.0.
For motherboards look no further than the Asus Maximus Formula.. definately the most popular Intel X38 chipset board around, and from what I've seen personally I sure would like to have one myself. Has all kinds of bells and whistles.
Going to be a nice system tho.. have fun. |

Hmmm looking at current reviews for the crop of 512Mb cards it seems if you go for larger screens they can get a bit limited. The more memory and bandwidth of the 640Mb+ cards stands them in better stead for scaling higher resolutions.
Something to bear in mind if you plan to 'have it large' in the near future. |

you're doing it wrong
ram is dirt cheap nowadays but its no excuse to get more than you need, I'd recommend some CAS4 DDR2800, you can moderately overclock this CPU to 1600mhz FSB to match with your double data rate 800mhz ram, or you could even get 1066mhz ram if you want to be even more futureproof
get the newer 45nm Q9300 quadcore thats 2.5ghz with 1333mhz fsb 6mb cache, dont be so concerned about a 50 dollar heatsink unless you really know how to overclock, I mean like a hefty overclock, I recommend a thermalright Ultra 120

dont buy that expensive video card thats already dated, whats 150 euros? $300 US? you really shouldn't be buying a G80 when the G92's have gotten so cheap, remember a 8800GTS G92 is basically that GTX Ultra, I think you could get two of those for about the same price and double your performance.
go with a cheap motherboard, gigabyte or MSI something, PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A ASUS WHATEVER, P35? look at the newegg best sellers when in doubt, you want to go SLI I guess you're forced with either a 6xxi series or 7xxi
The case is good, I liked that case, but the covers can break easily when you snap it off to access the insides
Vista right now isn't good enough to buy, I recommend you just download it or better yet install XP if you're not concerned about DX10 graphics
PSU's I have no idea, but lets just say Antec PSU's arent as much as they're cracked up to be
HDD, 74gb will be enough?
All in all, your budget should be something like $1000, my friend is getting a kick ass rig for only $600 (doesn't need a PSU or a case) you should'nt get over that hurdle that easy, focus on what you really need, no computer is going to seem that good for more than 1 year in this day and age. Just make yourself feel like you wouldn't feel so bad putting some more money into your system within 9 months |

Hmm, nice comments.
CL4 memory would be nice indeed although won't find on 2GB sticks so suggest 4x1Gb sticks still plus they are cheap as someone said..
Would change the Q6600 away from that box instant since the Q9300 (6Mb) or Q9450 (12Mb) Penryn cores are near same price range as Q6600 and they are true next gen processors. I'd say they will come on market at 24.04. so they are there before you buy this.
Other than that I'd suggest a bit cheaper PSU you do nothing with some monster like 780 Watts. Lets say good 550w or 600w at max does the trick just fine and motherboard. Well, depending of price range I'd go to X38 Chipset boards or 780i-SLI boards. As buying machine myself also here, atm, I think something like ASUS-P5E looked nice on price to capability compination (X38). if something better maybe an ASUS Maximus Formula wouldn't be too bad, but yeah those costs around 150-200 euros, you can get nice P35 board with 60-70 euros, but will be missing the PCI-E 2.0 spec (double bdw) support although as advantage good ones supports DDR2 & 3 as memory slots. Asrock 1600 TWINS WIFI (P35) looked there quite nice (although not sure about Asrock & quality mixing.. ) So it's a point of view.
