Downloaded em, installed em, rebooted em.
SP1 now doesnt appear in my updates list anymore.
SP1 download package still falls over at the exact same point.

Sounds fun...I've been trying to figure out why its not even offered on moms since I supposedly removed the offending driver, but no luck. Still, hey, it works well enough so I'm not terribly concerned.
Glad I got a Vista+SP1 disc from my friend though cause my install was pretty hosed. |

I've tried a few more times but it just wont go in. Auto updates tries now and again too.
A fresh install is the only answer. Might give me something to do over the weekend.

If you do do a fresh install, you might save some hassle by grabbing vlite and slipstreaming SP1 onto your old disc, the only annoyance to that method is that you need Windows AIK on your system, but it does work ok in the end. |

Yeah I've used nLite in the past to really strip out the crud but got fed up with all those "the files you are installing are not recognised/older/newer please reinstall" messages that used to come up. Fine was easy to ignore but looked messy.
Is vLite better?
Whats AIK?? |

Looks too much like hard work the AIK bit.
I meant does VLite get rid of the annoying error messages like nLite had? |

Once you've installed the AIK it doesn't nag for anything else that I've found, but then again I've only used the SP1 slipstream function with it, I haven't tried stripping any of the other stuff out of Vista using vLite yet. |
