I'm using a Asus P5E-VM HDMI. The integrated GPU is disabled...I'm not sure where to go from here. Most reports say these are easily capable of high 400s, and often 500.
Also, when I set my vcore to 1.4v in the bios, cpuz 1.44.1 shows it as being 1.288v. Could this possibly be accurate? Idle temps are 52c with the stock heatsink. and an open case. |

It could. Asus boards tend to vdrop and vdroop. Last models have a setting in BIOS to atenuate the problem.
My P5K, with the setting enabled, gives 1,2v idle and 1,208v load for a 1.2375v BIOS. For an overclocked C2Q at 3Ghz, cant complain.
Check if the board has a working PCI lock, previous P5B-VM didnt. |

| Is that PCI spread spectrum? If so, should this be disabled or enabled? |

I've always been told anything with 'spread spectrum' should be switched off. I think its to help certain circuits combat interference etc.
Doesnt do anything for long term reliability though. |

Disable it, it can affect your overclock. |

The voltage setting is "CPU Voltage Damper", should be enabled.
As for PCI-E lock, this post says from G33 onwards the problem has been fixed.
The setting to look for in BIOS is "PCIE Frequency", set it to 100 or 101.
PCI-E spread spectrum deals with another thing:

And, yes, every overclocking article says to have spread spectrum disabled. |

| Okay. I will try all of those things and report back with my results. Thanks for your help thus far. |

*sigh* my internet's been down for over a week now. Supposidly they'll be by tomorrow to take a look at it...but that's what they said yesterday too.
I haven't got it past 400fsb yet, but it's at 3.6ghz now and I'm having enough trouble cooling it as it is. I'm going to try to DL coretemp and some other programs here at the library so that I can do a little testing.
(BTW I have oblivion installed on this again - max settings the whole way, highest res and all, and it's silky smooth! details I never knew existed:D)! |

Freakin' internet's still not working.
When running superpi, I get a message 'no convergance in SRQ05' or something similar to that. Ram is at 2.3v 5-5-5-15, cpu is at 1.6ghz, fsb is at 300...all just to be sure it's not them. What else could be causing this? *pulls out hair* |
