Do any of you have any experience with a 28" monitor, the largest monitor I have seen is 24". My sister is thinking of selling her old 19" samsung and add some more money to get a bigger one. She intend to buy the samsung 245BW. But she is now thinking of the Viewsonic Vx2835wm 28" , with 3ms looks nice. Do you think this will be a worh while try???

What sort of work/activities does she want to do with it?

If its just browse the web, then those web pages will look a little lost on the real big screen.

245bw is like half the price for just 4" more inches, you wont notice the difference between 5ms and 6ms or whatever the samsung is.

You should be aware that the panel on the samsung is a screen you have to look at head on, I'm not sure if the viewsonic is a PVA panel though, it might be since its so expensive.

most 28"+ screens are MVA/PVA or IPS panels..

i have the new Dell 3008WFP (30" SIPS Panel) it's absolutely awesome ;D - but it costs a bombshell!

i suggest listening to daglesj, if all your doing is surving the web and maybe playing a couple fps games then a 24" TN panel would be perfectly fine.

but if you want to watch movies from more than a meter away from the screen, then you will want a non-TN panel, so an MVA/PVA or an IPS panel would be ideal.

i suggest googling for some monitor reviews (for example, google: "dell 3008wfp review")before you go ahead with the purchase though, some panels just aren't as good as they're made out to be.

I used to have the 245bw panel if you have any questions about it

watching movies was fine, I didnt notice any banding and gaming was excellent, my only complaints were viewing angles ( I mean like so bad if you move your head up and down you can notice a slight difference on the top and bottom of the screen)

I guess if I were to buy an LCD again I'd get a non TN panel just to see what all the fuss is about and to get rid of poor viewing angles. I used to have a CRT 19" sony trinitron and the only thing I missed from my old sony was the viewing angles.

"- High quality screen rescaling capability"

Don't mind, I'll just set the 360 and PS3 to output at 1080p and let the console handle the scaling instead.

The x360 has a setting for switching between 4:3, 16:9, or 16:10
