Hopefully I'll not be flamed for this request, but I have done numerous searches on asus.com and nforcers and could not find any answers there or via the FAQs.
Is there any lists of compatible or recommended memory brands out there for Asus mobos? (Specifically the A7N8X-E). I bought some less-than-famous brand of memory and my system does not run reliably when installed. I'm trying to figure out if the memory itself is defective or if (more likely) the memory is too cheap to work reliably with the mobo. Additionally, I'm looking at another relatively good deal on a brand I have heard of before, but I would rather confirm that it works well on this mobo first instead of going through the annoyance of having it not work.
Also, I have read a few things online regarding high/low density memory, but I don't know how to tell what memory is low density.
Thanks in advance for the help, and I apologize if this is already listed somewhere. I did my best to find it before posting. |

not for the A7N8X-E Deluxe, but for the A7N8X Deluxe..
http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7N8X%20Deluxe&langs=09#
very bottom of the page.. not sure if there are differences. they use the same chipsets though..
you could try testing with memtest86+ at www.memtest.org

| The link posted here for the A7N8X is no longer valid (or at least the ASUS website indicates it is undergoing maintenance), and I've not had luck with other similar links for the ASUS memory QVL table. The user manual for this MOBO only provides QVL data for 128-512MB sticks, and am looking to get two 1GB sticks. Anyone else have any luck hunting down an active memory list for the A7N8X Deluxe? |

| Thanks - I had previously visited the Crucial, Corsair, and Kingston sites, but was concerned when I read a post on the corsair forum that indicated a user had problems with some sticks the corsair memory configurator had recommended. He claimed that Corsair told him his CPU wasn't fast enough to support the memory he bought based on their configurator. My CPU is only an AMD 2600+, and not sure if this is a valid concern. I'm told the A7N8X Deluxe is finnicky about memory, and just want to get to 2GB on dual channels without overkill or having to deal with an RMA. |

You are right, the original A7N8X series were fussy with their memory, if memory serves it was down to regulated voltage delivery However the A7N8X-E is of a later date and was far more compatible with memory at its rated DDR400. I know it doesnt help you much, but I had 2x512 corsair pro series with the fancy LEDs in it and later when I gave it to my brother 2x512 corsair value select and it worked fine. Now I think about it, my dads PC I built for him had this board with 2x512 of VERY cheap APACER DDR400 ram, with no problems.
If you hunt about in this forum, there is plenty of threads for this popular board, try this one as a couple of folks say they have 2gb dual channel

Good luck! |
