Hi excuse the first post of newbness.
I have Biostar NF4ST-A9 939 mboard and all was fine until I changed CPU to a X2 4400. I made sure bios was up to date - Nf4sac21.bf on biostar US website. Now it freezes randomly in bios at startup or after any length of time in windows.
After searching around for clues I find this

Saying I need nf4sa614 bios. Now the only place I can find this is on the Russian biostar site. Why do different countries have different latest bios? Are the mboards different between countries? Can I try flash to 614 and then flash back to c21? Can I use a completely diff bios which uses the CK804 chipset? Could it just be faulty CPU? I don't know anyone with 939 board to try grr.

You should have checked Biostar's websites before buying the new CPU, if AMD x2 CPU's are supported by the actual mainboard BIOS.

No, all BIOS versions are international.

If I would be you, I would try to flash the nf4sa614 BIOS. If you get problems with the new BIOS, you can flash back to the one you have now.
Last option, if nothing is really working good: Buy a new mainboard, which is supporting your new AMD x2 CPU or replace the new CPU by the old non-x2 one.

I would never try to flash a BIOS, which is not specified for the mainboard.

That is the reason wha you have to test it by your own.
It was your mistake to buy a CPU without knowing, if you can use it with your actual mainboard. |

I will try the different bios and if not put old cpu in and sell my pc for upgrade. I couldn't find much help from Biostar but the mboard is being sold as x2 compatible so I went for it. Since reading more I hear about usb2 issues with nforce4 and x2 cpus so looks like upgrading will be less hassle!
