Abit KW7 black screen after getting W/XP Desktop

I have shutdown problem. It doesn't necessarily go out right away either. Usually when I start an application or soon after the app. starts.
Well I changed the vid card to a Mad dog AGP card And also to an older PCI PNY card and no luck.At first I ran 512 Kingston and 512 Ultra in socket 1 and 3. I have even swapped the memory with 1GB simpletech then I tried some 512 Kingston in socket 1 still having a screen blackout. Everything remains running but the screen goes black. Oh yeah I did also swap the monitors.This system has a coolermaster 450W PS.
The memory is PC 3200/400.
At present I have the ATI 9600 grahics card in because of same results with 2 other vid cards.

All this and then I re-ran MS XP pro install over the top of windows and no luck. It did get rid of about 68 MS updates though.BTW I have the V. 15 bios and was still having problems with version 14.

Is the bios possibly set up wrong for my CPU and my memory?

I have been copying some files in the safe mode for about 1/2 hr. and it's stable.

if its stable in safe mode then i can only suggest that either its an O/S problem or a driver problem.

My Advice....

Do a full wipe and reinstall and install all the latest drivers and updates.
