Okay I've got an old NF7-S 2.0 that I've had mildly OC'd with a

XP-M2500+ (266)@2040 ~214x9.5 ---> AX7 HSF ~ 46C Load (I need an upgrade but haven't found any HSF better on ebay etc...?!)
1GB (1stick) Corsair XMS2 2-3-3-6
2 Sata's (Raptor + 5000AAKS)
450 HEC
6800GT (Stock)

Stock 27 bios, Sil3112 1.0.56.1 (not sure 42.xx)

Okay so what I would like to know is what route should I take for upgrading the bios(es) mobo/Sil3112? I read through pages of cpc this and that, injecting .bins, CBROM (which ver 2.15 or 6.6?) basically there's just too much information and I have not found anything straight and clear cut (close to hand-holding but not so much). So can someone give me a definitive quick summation of what I should do with this rig and what tools I'll need? There's just so much to read and search through, that it's hindering my quest to find a decent post/guide... any help is much appreciated!

So far I have: All the Mantaray XT/3D Fire, 1&2T fire modded bioses, CBROM 2.15/6.6, Stock D27 4283,

BTW- So I take it NOBODY has made/hacked a bios to support USB booting? (God what an oversight on Abit's part!?!)

can't help on the bios but will hijack your thread for a moment if you don't mind. Very Happy

i don't think you need a upgrade on the ax7. i have a spare ax7 that maybe one day i will do a swap on my chaintech 7njs and it's thermalright 900 to find out. at the moment i have one with a termaltake ttII 80mm on my soyo kt880 and 2600-m running 12.5x200at1.8v that never breaks 50c at 100%.

end of off topic.

I'm hoping to find an old SP-97 or something along the lines of the 1st gen heat-pipe based coolers: Unless I can find something better, but from what I've seen on fleabay there's nothing but overpriced "buy it now" junk coolers, or nothing much at all for the XP socket-A series... I don't like running my CPU's above 45C, but from the posts I've read, 50C is acceptable, but I still don't like it Think (thanks for the post)

God someone show me some charity and give me a hand Sad
