Been searching around for pictures of the Big Typhoon heatsink on the DFI NF2 Inf/LP board. I'm curious if the socket is too far to the northwest of the board to be feasible in a case. Specifically an SLK3000B. If so, is the SI-97A the best cooler available for this board Question

Very late response but methinks the Thermalright would be more than adequate.

Thanks for the reply. Looks that way. Does the SI-97A have a concave base like some XP120's I've seen? Might be lapping it. Was going to lap a BT anyway Very Happy

the best coolers for dfi are the sp97 and si97,I had both,si97 is easier to install, but the performance of the sp97 is a lil better, both are very good coolers =)

Dont mean too appear too pedantic.... but, why best for DFI? Or do you mean the best cost/performance ratio, but that's still not board specific. Unless you're talking about compatibility when it comes to this particular board.

Using the SI-120 on my DFI here with some impressive results. Idle/load run 23/40.

Thermalright SP97 is the best HS you will find for NF2. With a little patience you may find it on an auction website. You will want to look here for you board compatiblity first if you haven't already. Seems like DFI boards need an addtional back plate or something.

The SP97 is not good for the DFI NF2 boards. You do need a different backplate and the fit is not very good. It does not fit well IMO and I have one. I have stripped the posts once. You have to be extremely careful how much you tighten them and they never seem to work as well as they do on other boards not using the same fitting method. On the Asus the posts bolt onto the motherboard but on the DFI they cannot due to the way the socket is located. Which could mean the heatsink not fitting flat and the contact with the CPU not being as good as it could be.
