|

Does anybody know if there is a modded BIOS available for the A8N32-SLI Deluxe which incorporates the latest SATA BIOS from Silicon Image?
Just been to download Vista drivers from the SI website, and it recommends using the drivers with the latest SATA BIOS, but of course Asus haven't released a new BIOS for this board for a while now.
Would it matter anyway if I used the latest drivers with the older BIOS?
Tried googling and searching these forums, but not found anything.
Steve. |

I was looking for the same thing and found this http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=13942&st=80, there's 2 modded bios images. One with nvraid 5.60 & Silicon Image 7.4.05, the other is nvraid 6.94 & Silicon Image 7.4.05.
I'm going to test out the nvraid 5.60. |

| both bios files worked fine, no problems running vista & xp. using fernando's driver packs for nforce4 boards w/ a 4 disk 0+1 raid array on the nforce controller, and a 2 disk raid 0 array off the sil image ports. |

I updated to the 1405 BIOS with the 6.94 Media Shield & 7.4.0.5 Silicon Image BIOS.
No issues; did the BIOS update using an active and bootable RAID-1 array, with a second RAID-1 array for data / apps (both off the nforce RAID controller.)
I have an eSATA drive (WD My Book Premium ES) hooked to the SI-3132, and I keep getting disk errors whenever I do the scheduled Vista 'shadow' backup of my data onto the eSATA drive. I was hoping the 7.4.0.5 would fix that, but I still get it.
It doesn't seem to affect the drive's ability to store backup data, I just get two error notices per backup that the drive is having an error (viewed via Event Manager.)
Changing the cable didn't help; but so far haven't had any data integrity problems, so I guess the problem isn't really a problem. Yet. |
