In addition, the HT bus is locked on the basic nF4 to prevent overclocking of the Hyper Transport. This means that the basic nForce4 is not a good choice for the enthusiast, who is better served by the Ultra and SLI chipsets.

how many of those things apply to notebook form factors is a bit confusing, like NVIDIA RAID.......

Are you kidding BIM? I would have a RAID5 in my notebook as well as NVHYDRAULICLIFT to carry the thing around! Wink

what? you havnt heard of raid0 in notebooks?

if thats not enough, chainteck has a notebook with desktop hardware coming out. its called IMO. it uses desktop harddrive, memory and cpu.

Very Happy I know eh... I noticed on the driver site for my compaq r3000 that there was an nvidia driver thing, so I installed the forceware drivers instead and hell the soundstorm control panel and everything worked instead of the retarted soundMAX thing that came with the notebook.

i think there is an error in the sticky.

the vanilla nforce4 supports 1GHz HTT speeds, not 800MHz. The "locked" at 1GHz HTT speed is a good thing for overclocking, since you can overclock the cpu bus and keep the HTT in spec instead of resorting to dividers. As for the "slower" sata speeds, what currently offered sata drives can use the 1.5GB/sec let alone the 3.0GB/sec the nforce4 ultra and sli offer?

seems anandtech was paid off to push users away from the vanilla nforce4 and spend more money then they needed too for a good system.

Oh yes and I was paid off to make people think they needed a bigger pagefile so they would buy bigger hard drives.

You know, sometimes people can just be wrong.

So am I right in thinking that if I was to go amd64 and to keep my agp card nforce3 is the chipset of choice?

or is agp possible on nforce4?

I'd rather get the Asrock's 939Dual-SATA2 giving you both AGP and PCI-E.
