Welcome to NFHQ! Smile
Check if there's a jumper at the back of the drive that forces it to run in 1.5G mode.

No jumpers at all.... Its supposed to be autodetect anyway.

I am also using the sata power supply cable.

Then you'll need Hitachi's Feature Tool (v2.01) to enable 3.0G mode in firmware:

WOW

Th/\nks ! Thumbs Up

It worked a treat!...... also managed to enable a quiet drive feature plus UDma133
Drive was VERY noisy before I tweaked it, sounded like a mouse wheel... now its like a set of flys wings. groovy.

excellent !

Nice to get a solution so quickly....nice one M8 !

I guess I would have got these tools on a floppy had the drive been retail....however the drive was OEM and I simply had no idea that the drive could be tweked.....

angain thanks! Shocked Very Happy Cool

Had to post my opinion.. Have yet to have a problem with my Hitachis.. I use to be real afraid of the brand from some long time history way back with some 20-40 gb PATA drives..

Tried them on several Nforce 4 boards without a glitch on any of them for more then 6+ months.

I have fun memories of the 'DeathStar'.

A replacement I got from IBM just lasted long enough for me to install Windows and my programs before it crapped out. I use Seagates now.

Personally, I continue to use Hitachi's drives and since 180GXP it works flawlessly.
