hi,
Ive just brought a Audigy 4 soundcard and installed with np and works a treat, thought i look in Hardware devices and IRQ resources and found out the PCI Slot 2 is sharing same IRQ as the PCI-E slot.
Just wondering is this ok and will it cause me any problems in future as at moment ive tried about 4 games and no problem so far.
I like it to have its own IRQ setting but it mean me putting it in PCI Slot 1 but problem is then the sound card is resting on the Heatsink of the graphics card and causes the GPU when in windows temp to go up by 10'c to 15'c.
Is there a option in Bios to assign a IRQ to PCI Slot 2 at all ? |

I'm pretty sure that you can change the IRQ's, but I just don't know where you do it.

ive looked in bios but dont like to mess in there unless its setting i know how to use.
At moment the Audigy 4 and Graphics card seems to be working ok together on same irq request, proberly how the pci bridge works its providng the resourses they need ok, dont fully understand how PCI-E works at moment and its not causing any problems surprising.
Not like old days of SBlive and certain motherboards. |

From your post, it sounds like things are working ok. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Fewer headaches this way.

hi,
All time i had motherboard running it ran very stable with those settings,
Usualy soundcard and graphics card together on same irq u get problems.
I left the Soundcard in second pci slot and ran ok checked performance and not really made much difference been ok since i did orginal post, been stable since then so left it how it was.
Proberly because the PCI-Express bus got enough bandwidth to cope with 2 things running on same irq just a theory. |

I have an Audigy 2 and a Radeon X850XT and they share the same IRQ. When I was on WinXP x64 I got random BSOD's. Have been running WinXP Pro with no problems.
But just recently after I started playing Prey and CoD2 more, my internal speakers beeps randomly. Not sure whats causing it. I ran a torture test and it never beeped so I don't think its my temps. |
