Where did my NCQ go ? Asus A8N-SLI Help please

My System Basics.
Asus A8N-SLI Premium.
AMD 4800x2
2 gigs corsair xms
2 Maxtor 6L080MO Hard Drives

Step by step what i did.
1. Installed XP64bit in raid 0 using a winlite prepared disk, with the nvidia raid drivers pre-installed. NCQ was working fine, the box was already ticked. Connected to connectors 1 & 2.
2.After 2 months system started crashing and random bsod's
3. Decided to do 4 things one after another.
a.] Ran windows "automatically fix file system errors" and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". It found and repaired 5 bad clusters
b.] Upgraded my bios to the latest version {1011.001}. It was on 1009.
c.] Added 2 storage disks in raid 1 for important storage, also to the nvidia controller, on connectors 3& 4
d.] Reinstalled windows using the same Nlite install disk as used in the origional install.

So i had done all of the above, i went to system devices to check all drivers were installed correctly, and to check NCQ, it was blanked out for the system raid disks, I can't put a tick in the box. Checked the storage disks and they HAD got NCQ enabled.
I have tried :-
1. Turning NCQ off for the storage pair.
2. removing the storage pair.
3. Turning off raid for the storage pair.
4. swapping the leads, ie changing the system disks to connectors 3 & 4, instead of 1 & 2
5. Reflashing bios back to 1009.
6. Windows reinstall without the Storage Pair.
7. Emailled Asus and got no Reply {no surprise there}
8. All combinations of the above at every stage possible, and everything I can think of and forgotten i've tried,

However there is still no change for the system pair. I can not get the option for NCQ back. These drives are NCQ capable, ive seen them working, and Maxtors site confirms this model supports NCQ
Does anyone have an idea or solution for this issue, its really winding me up ?

Maxtor have probs on NF4 mobos with NCQ, turn it off till they release firmware, i had to dissable it on 7 rigs i built or they would randomly take 5-10mins to boot up or even never boot up other times they boot up fast, weird. ( i didnt have any this data curruption I read about, i think thats probably misinterpeted as this is only fault i had.
