Greetings!

Read this:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1947
Notice the 939 dual channel and 512KB on all A64 except FXs...
I suppose if I can afford to wait till Q2, 939/FX-53 is a much superior system. But Q2 could become Q3 or Q4 =)

I looked through this thread and related links but am still a little unclear about one thing. If I switch to a Socket 939 board and a FX-55, can I run any old ram on it or not? I just invested more than enough in this single stick (1 gig) that gives decent performance and don't want to have to reinvest. Just want to make sure.

Thanks.

Yes. That's why the moved to the 939 from the 940. With the 939 the special ram isn't required and you can do what you want with it....

Of Course you don't want to put cheapy ram in a system like that, and it never hurts to make sure the ram is specifically supported by the board, but yeah you're ok.

That's what I thought I gleaned from the various articles. Just wanted to make sure. I'm pretty happy with my ram speeds and if I could ram more voltage through 'em, I'd probably be even Very Happy -er.

I just really want an unlocked multiplier. Tried a couple of very early mobiles (only ones available here) and had no luck with them.

Anyway, thanks.
