Hey Guys, need some in put from you. I'm going to hold off on my upgrades of sort for now and concentrate on a upgrade I've wanted to do for a long time.

I'm in the market for a new LCD, a 24" LCD. I have done some heavy duty research on this and it has come down to these four LCDs...

BenQ FP241W

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP

Samsung SyncMaster 245T

EIZO FlexScan S2411W

And here is a side-by-side comparison sheet with prices:

As you can see they are not TN technology screens all great for gaming and picture rendering and of course movies and the rest of the daily LCD chores.

All LCDs have their limitation but I think these guys are the top of the class in 24" monitors.

So what do you think?

Going forward I'd make sure it had a HDMI port so thats the Eizo out.

Plus the Dell has Displayport too. Not much use at the mo but in a couple of years maybe.

Make sure you check out their dead pixel return policy, just in case.

Have to say I'd be torn between the Dell and the Samsung.

i know Benq's dead pixel return policy is unless its at the center of the screen its tuff, i know cos a mate bought a 19" benq and had 2 dead pixels in top right corner and we kicked up a fuss and yes in the end they did exchange it but said usually they dont unless they r in the center.

Yep.
Also, check the monitor base to see what it can do.

All good points guys...

First off availability at least for me, you guys are so lucky most of you live stateside:

EIZO FlexScan S2411W: Regular $1237.11, on clearance $968.00 and available at Mwave.

Samsung SyncMaster 245T: $668.57, available at Mwave.

BenQ FP241W: $657.56, available at Mwave. (But not in stock at the moment).

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP: $549.00 + $71.00 shipping USPS, available at Ebay (And the guy is willing to check for dead pixels before shipping).

As far as price the Dell comes in first followed by the BenQ then the Samsung then the EIZO.

On the defence of the EIZO the monitor is a more professional monitor targeted towards the graphic artist who really need to have accurate color reproduction.

The Dell, Samsung and the BenQ all are very similar and I think only price puts them apart. I think I won't go wrong in selecting any one of them over the other. So right now it look like this...

1. Dell (Price and Dead Pixel check before shipping) 10 STARS
2. Samsung (I love Samsung, hell I have two 19" right now) 10 STARS
3. BenQ (only becuase of not being in stock) 8 STARS
4. EIZO (Price) 5 STARS

I found an article/listing about dead pixels on some major brands. behardware.com, Published on May 22, 2007

http://www.behardware.com/articles/666-1/a-look-into-dead-pixels-2007.html

And found this at Samsung's site...

Samsung wrote:

19/21/24" LCD monitors:

My Samsung has one 'stuck' pixel in the top right hand corner. Its a magenta one.

I checked up their policy on the UK site and it had to be at least half a dozen before they would sort it iirc.

To be honest I'm not that bothered as its an inch from the top on a 1600x1200 screen. You only notice it if you go looking for it while using a web browser.

Took my Gf ages to find it when I told her.

Other than that its a nice screen. Its a 214T, whilst I like the look of WS monitors, I do like the screen depth of a 4:3.
