In simplest possible terms: I want my M2N-VM DVI with 630a to be able to hotplug sata-drives in my Chieftec sata backplane. EXACTLY what do I do?
I've been looking for a hotplugging solution for some time now but there just isn't any info around!!
I've been reading the posts here but cannot really make sense, or I am simply missing something. I read that the chipset as such should support hotplugging, but cannot make it happen. So I must be missing something. I've downloaded the Fernandos XP 32bit best for NF4-6 driverpack WHQL v1.8.zip but that didn't do it either.
PLEASE help, I'm right on the edge and ready to throw the whole thing out the window. Or shoot it.
EDIT: well, I grew tired of swearing at my comp, so I reconfigured it (again!!!) with a Asrock ALiveNF6G-DVI that apparently supports hotplug. This is the third mobo I've tried to get this working, so I hope my somewhat desperate tone is excused. Finally it seems to be working. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the redundant motherboard...

Problem is HotPlug function in development. No way in Hell you will get it working properly under windows. that's for sure. v10.3.0.21 has the best change you got on HotPlug Sata and it does support in full the eSata you mentioned.
I don't think it's the boards fault, if it works it'll work even on NF4xx chips as the driver and equipment is exactly the same. Also bringing the hardware down you can make it easier for system to handle it. There's softwares which can spindown the removed HDD before removal, simlar to Microsoft Safety remove device, but hell a lot more advanced.
--edit--
Heard that 'HotSwap!' an 3rd party tool might be able to handle this with v10.3.0.21 drivers. It's freeware....
