Greetings!

Amazing performance, as expected.
Wonder how much will Intel ask for those...

They've surely got to be fairly expensive considering the tech/die size, I'd guess ~$500 launch price for the 2.66Ghz model..?

The performance in that preview is even more impressive when you consider it was running on a hobbled motherboard also, the reviewers seemed pretty excited...

Intel Nehalem to allow overclocking, some processors will even encourage it :-

Quote:
Taipei (Taiwan) - Hot on the heels of AMD's overclocking secret, we can reveal that Bloomfield and Lynnfield, key processors of Intel’s upcoming Nehalem family, will indeed feature overclocking capabilities for up to eight CPU cores (16 threads).

Credible information we were able to obtain from industry sources suggest that rumors about Intel preventing users from overclocking Nehalem processors are false. From what we have learned, Intel has very healthy silicon on its hands. It appears that there are some challenges related to overclocking, especially in the memory controller area. However, it is unlikely that there will be anything that prevents overclocking of the CPU cores.

Intel gives peek into Nehalem bag of tricks

In a phone conference this morning, Intel gave a little preview of the papers it plans to unveil at the VLSI Symposia on Technology and Circuits this week in Hawaii. Much of the discussion focused on hairy electrical engineering specifics, but one of the speakers revealed a few interesting details about what Intel has in store for its next-generation Nehalem processor architecture.

Intel May Integrate DRAM into CPUs

When we talk about processor performance, most of the performance typically comes from the depth of the pipeline, the number of cores, the size and the type of the cache or the clock speed. However, we rarely hear about the way how a processor actually communicates between these components, and such technologies usually do not make it into marketing brochures. But Intel has an idea that could change this scenario: the company plays with the thought of integrating DRAM into the CPU.
...
In case you are wondering: Yes, it looks like there will be an introduce of a CPU/GPU hybrid.

Price cuts are on their way from Intel, too

You may be able to grab that Core 2 Duo E8500 for a few bucks less in 2-4 weeks, according to a report by Fudzilla. The site claims to have it on good authority that Intel will slash processor prices between July 20 and August 10. Without quoting any numbers, Fudzilla goes on to say the E8500, E8400, and E7200 should all be affected.
