The topic says it all really. I've got a 160GB drive that I want to put in my system when I get a new comp, but I don't know whether there is the 137GB limit on HDD space on the A7N8X.

Can anyone advise? I have got the Rev 2.00 board but not the Delux version. I am also thinking of putting Linux (haven't yet decided on what distro yet) on there, so I can run a file server/mailbox. So I would appreciate some idea on the max hard drive size I can put on the board.

Thanks

Andy

Greetings!

With XP SP1 installed you shouldnt have a problem seeing more than 137GB in a drive.

For Linux, read good things about Ubuntu in the Cantina.

The nForce2 IDE controller has been capable of 48-bit sector addressing ( appprox = 144 PETA Bytes = 144,000 TERA Bytes = 144,000,000GB) on the A7N8X-anything motherboards manufactured after Jan, 2003 using a BIOS revision > 1001D. The Silicon Image 3112 SATA controller has always had 48-bit support. ASUS 48-bit list:
