GA-7N400L F5 Bus Disconnet Bios Mod

I've pached BIOS F5 for GA-7N400L F5 using BIOS_patcher and s2kctl prog. Now I have Bus disconnect enabled on my board.(Bios also has "virtual dual bios" feature) 1 week of testing - no problems so far. If anyone cares of testing it too, e-mail me.

My config:

GA-7N400L F5(modded) Athlon XP 1700+@2000Mhz
512 DDR 333 Mushkin
ATi Radeon 8500
IBM 60GB 7200

M/b temp: 35C
CPU temps-
Before mod: idle: 53C load: 62C

After: idle: 42C load: 56C

The S2K Bus Disconnect function is another means for reducing heat emission and power consumption. It is about disabling the processor from the system bus in case the processor is in the "standby"(inactivity) mode. In this case the processor switches to the lower power consumption mode and its temperature drops essentially. All modern chipsets support this function, but it doesn't seem possible to enable it on GA-7N400L without patching BIOS (it changes 1 register ), So now it works on this board too, no need in CPUCOOL, or CPUIDLE or VCOOL, motherboard does everything by itself.

are the f5 bios better than the f8 bios???

I've modded the F5 BIOS only because i had it on that time and it worked fine, so I took it as a basis for this mod, there are 2 modification made in it: CPU identification and S2K Bus Disconnect enabled by defoult. Never tried F8 Bios, but I didn't see S2K solved in bios description.

how do you add the disconnect mod to it

I don't add, I just activate what is already exist in chipset, but disabled by Gigabyte for some reason (stability?), by patching any existing bios.
