I'm doing a re/re on my HTPC due to some problems I was having with Vista on the first go around. I'm using the MSI K8N Neo4-F (PCB 1.0) motherboard and Vista Ultimate, and when I install the Realtek AC97 drivers I don't get any audio out of the analogue outputs. Audio works on digital no problems, but analogue is non-existent. I can't even select the analogue channels; they're completely greyed out. Prior to this re/re, the analogue audio was working fine. Here's the full specs of the computer. The system is booting off the JBOD array, and the 80GB drive is just sitting there for recorded TV. I basically install Vista, then install the drivers. No updates have been installed at this point.
I've verified that the jumpers are set correctly for the analogue outputs to work. I'm not using any front panel audio headers. I've also installed XP MCE to see if Vista is being retarded. Though in XP I have an SPDIF tab in the sound card's settings applet, it doesn't affect anything. On both XP and Vista, the Analogue options in Speaker Setup are greyed out, and I can only select 6CH and 8CH digital.
Basically I'm turning to you folks for some help because, surprisingly, I actually want to run Vista for this situation.
