Games for Windows Live sucks less

They're paying for tens of millions of people to be able to connect to a service at any given time. And for master servers that don't get disconnected over time. And for a built in global anti-cheat service. And to get perks (downloads a week before other people get them, etc.)

Really though, I've always seen the Xbox Live cost as pocket change, so it's hardly like they're inconveniencing anyone.

I can't believe that XBL games will continue into infinity. They, like all other games, will eventually drop services to free up bandwidth, etc., it just hasn't come to that moment yet. Heck, didn't they just drop a bunch of downloadable games because they weren't popular?

Their servers aren't bulletproof either. I believe last summer they had a ton of connection problems in the US. They may have worked them out, but that's no guarantee they won't happen again.
It's great they have a global anti-cheat device, but not a swear filter for all the mouthy, racist 15 year olds that use the service?
Those downloads that the cheapos have to wait a week for are available for free the moment they come out on the PSN.

And the point when I don't have broadband would be what exactly? Hell I have 10 or so free months from games I bought.

And no, they didn't drop a bunch of downloadable games, from what I know. They're to move them off the main lists but they're still available on the service. I'm not sure when that's actually going to occur though.

As for a voice swear filter? Yeah....wake me up in ten years when that's possible without adding lag.
