Hi Gilly - You've given me food for thought with your new build. I haven't played with Intel since the days of 440BX chipset, but now I'm pricing out a system similar to yours!

What other components (video, PS, etc.) made it into your new build?

Is it too soon to ask what you might change if you had it all to do over again?

Regards.........

As new sig Very Happy

kept my old x1900, it has a pretty nice water block on it, and 9800 news was scarce when i made the order so i though i would keep it as it was.

i dont need any more gpu performance for wow. i may well do for UT, but tbh its rare i play that now. if i do get back into it i would expect a 1gb 9800gtx card to be fitted in soon.

i would swap my PSU for one thats more efficient i think, maybe a seasonic one... and i would swap this mobo, it has an odd way of powering up.

if you hold the power button on the case the fans spin up for maybe 0.5 sec then power down. if you let go of the button, about 3 seconds later the pc fires up perfectly. no idea why it does it but i would prefer it if didnt hehe.

cant complain so far, its been stable and fast, wow usage is litterally up to 2x fps that it was before. and i notice a lot less heat out of the radiator.

hope that helps

Thanks for the info.

I have the new build 'breadboarded' on my desk and booted up for the first time last night. All is well. Immediately updated BIOS to 1012. No glitches with cold start or restart.

Keeping fingers crossed.......
